I guess my first experience with StumbleUpon was checking my weblogs one day and seeing three thousand hits on a fairly innocuous blog post of mine called BBC Iplayer France, discussing how I was able to access Iplayer from Paris. So just prepare yourself to take it slow and expect to see your particular results in a little time - but it's not terrible, either. If you actively help the community, the occasional promotional post to your best lawn mower website will be better received and accepted.
Social media websites are wonderful for getting visitors to your website.
But, when you speak about StumbleUpon, the traffic is not only highly targeted, but the people that come to your site really want to see what you are offering. There are thousands of people who surf with StumbleUpon. So just think about how many people you could reach if you made the effort and put the site to good use. But again, it boils down to how well you take action. This is because if you do not make any effort, you truly will not see any results.

Good post! This applies to any social bookmarking sites. I know that there was one site which started shutting down accounts because all they did was promote their own links. Basically abusing it for SEO purposes.

This is an awesome article. Not many people know about or care about StumbleUpon because they don't understand the potential it has to offer.... However, It's a really cool website, And has alot of cool sites being shown. Many of the sites you won't even see unless you stumbleupon them somehow someway outside of the site. I have found sites that are totally awesome that I've never seen before, Anywhere, until I started going to StumbleUpon. If you are not using this site in my opinion, you are missing the boat. So "Check It Out". :)

It is easy to overlook quality sources of gaining traffic, especially for the inexperienced or new to using the social media outlets available.

StumbleUpon is a fun, interesting site I have used mostly for relaxation, hadn't even considered its potential for steering traffic.
