A Warning for the Holidays

I just wanted to send you all a warning to be watchful of your checking and credit cards accounts. In the last two weeks both my credit card and my checking account have been compromised by someone making unauthorized charges to my accounts.

The credit card charge was only for $5 but it was made in Las Vegas, NV. The checking account, using Scott's debit card number, was for two $105 charges in Florida on Thanksgiving.

The credit card fraud department called me to verify charges and that is how I found the $5 charge. They said that users will charge a small amount like $5 to see if you notice. If you don't then they will continue to use the card number for much larger amounts. The checking account charges I found when I was balancing my checkbook this weekend. There was no notification from the bank for those.

Especially during the holidays it is worth reviewing your charges often to make sure you are not being charged for items that you have not purchased. Share this warning with anyone you can & have a safe holiday!

Happy Holidays!

Print this as a reminder for ourselves, some of these are very good and may improve our overall well being

There are 40 things here - if you do at least 5 of them, it's a start....and remember, you control the journey of your life - don't let anyone else take control of it ...

HANDBOOK 2010

Health:
1. Drink plenty of water.
2. Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and dinner like a beggar.
3. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants..
4. Live with the 3 E's -- Energy, Enthusiasm and Empathy
5. Make time to pray.
6. Play more games
7. Read more books than you did in 2009.
8. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day
9. Sleep for 7 hours.
10. Take a 10-30 minutes walk daily. And while you walk, smile.

Personality:
11. Don't compare your life to others. You have no idea what their journey is all about.
12. Don't have negative thoughts of things you cannot control Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.
13. Don't over do. Keep your limits.
14. Don't take yourself so seriously. No one else does.
15. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip.
16. Dream more while you are awake
17. Envy is a waste of time. You already have all you need..
18. Forget issues of the past. Don't remind your partner with His/her mistakes of the past. That will ruin your present happiness.
19. Life is too short to waste time hating anyone. Don't hate others.
20. Make peace with your past so it won't spoil the present.
21. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.
22. Realize that life is a school and you are here to learn. Problems are simply part of the curriculum that appear and fade away like algebra class but the lessons you learn will last a lifetime.
23. Smile and laugh more.
24. You don't have to win every argument. Agree to disagree..

Society:
25. Call your family often.
26. Each day give something good to others.
27. Forgive everyone for everything..
28. Spend time w/ people over the age of 70 & under the age of 6.
29. Try to make at least three people smile each day.
30. What other people think of you is none of your business.
31. Your job won't take care of you when you are sick. Your friends will. Stay in touch.

Life:
32. Do the right thing!
33. Get rid of anything that isn't useful, beautiful or joyful.
34. GOD heals everything.
35. However good or bad a situation is, it will change..
36. No matter how you feel, get up, dress up and show up.
37. The best is yet to come..
38. When you awake alive in the morning, thank GOD for it.
39. Your Inner most is always happy. So, be happy.

Last but not the least:
40. Please Forward this to everyone you care about, I just did.

Government is not reason; it is not eloquent; it is force.
Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master

Particularly anybody who is or was a pilot...Enjoy!

My other half shared the following email message with me

With the picture of that cat stalking that eagle in mind, one of our members who also volunteers for the Museum of flight sent me this story the other day. Too bad there aren't any pictures to go with it. Note the comments between Mike and myself.

About 6 or more months ago someone else sent me a series of photos from Lake Tapps of an eagle versus other birds. But that's not the incident Mike saw. He observed an eagle versus crows right down near the Museum of flight.

Aye - there's a number of websites that have the story posted.
Obviously the farmer didn't have a camera with him.

I've personally witnessed some crows harassing a bald eagle near here and it was interesting to watch the "air battle." The crows would dive on the eagle as he was flying along (kinda reminded me of German fighters swooping down on a B-17), and the eagle would do a roll inverted just as the crow got near, ready to tear him apart with his talons.

The crow would veer off before he got shredded. The eagle finished his roll - I didn't know they could do a full 360° roll - he did it gracefully with perfect timing to the crows attack. The crows kept harassing the eagle and the eagle just climbed higher and higher and the crows gave up trying to maintain the altitude and broke off.

Kill 'em and Eat 'em....A Great Aviation Story!

As the old saying goes, "There are no noble wars.......only noble warriors."

Here's a story that fits that description very aptly. Enjoy a great aviation story.

This came from a gent who runs a 2000-acre corn farm up around Barron, WI, not far from Oshkosh. He used to fly F-4Es and F-16s for the Guard and participated in the first Gulf War. Submitted for your enjoyment, and as a reminder that there are other great, magnificent flyers around besides us.

I went out to plant corn for a bit to finish a field before tomorrow morning and witnessed The Great Battle. A golden eagle -- big bastard, with about a six-foot wingspan -- flew right in front of the tractor. It was being chased by three crows that were continually dive bombing it and pecking at it. The crows do this because the eagles rob their nests when they find them.

At any rate, the eagle banked hard right in one evasive maneuver, then landed in the field about 100 feet from the tractor. This eagle stood about 3 feet tall. The crows all landed too, and took up positions around the eagle at 120 degrees apart, but kept their distance at about 20 feet from the big bird. The eagle would take a couple steps towards one of the crows and they'd hop backwards and forward to keep their distance. Then the reinforcement showed up.

I happened to spot the eagle's mate hurtling down out of the sky at what appeared to be approximately Mach 1.5. Just before impact the eagle on the ground took flight, (obviously a coordinated tactic; probably pre-briefed) and the three crows which were watching the grounded eagle also took flight thinking they were going to get in some more pecking on the big bird. The first crow being targeted by the diving eagle never stood a snowball's chance in hell. There was a mid-air explosion of black feathers and that crow was done.

The diving eagle then banked hard left in what had to be a 9G climbing turn, using the energy it had accumulated in the dive, and hit crow #2 less than two seconds later. Another crow dead. The grounded eagle, which was now airborne and had an altitude advantage on the remaining crow -- which was now streaking eastward in full burner -- made a short dive then banked hard right when the escaping crow tried to evade the hit. It didn't work - crow #3 bit the dust at about 20 feet AGL.

This aerial battle was better than any air show I've been to, including the warbirds show at Oshkosh. The two eagles ripped the crows apart and ate them on the ground, and as I got closer and closer working my way across the field, I passed within 20 feet of one of them as it ate its catch. It stopped and looked at me as I went by and you could see in the look of that bird that it knew who's Boss Of The Sky. What a beautiful bird!

I loved it. Not only did they kill their enemy, they ate them.
One of the best Fighter Pilot stories I've seen in a long time.

Excuse Me, Are You Jesus?

A few years ago a group of salesmen went to a regional sales
convention in Chicago . They had assured their wives that they
would be home in plenty of time for Friday night's dinner.

In their rush, with tickets and briefcases, one of these salesmen
inadvertently kicked over a table which held a display of apples.

Apples flew everywhere. Without stopping or looking back, they all
managed to reach the plane in time for their nearly missed boarding.

ALL BUT ONE!!! He paused, took a deep breath, and experienced
a twinge of compassion for the girl whose apple stand had been
overturned.

He told his buddies to go on without him, waved good-bye,
told one of them to call his wife when they arrived at their
home destination and explain his taking a later flight. Then
he returned to the terminal where the apples were all over
the terminal floor.

He was glad he did.

The 16 year old girl was totally blind! She was softly crying,
tears running down her cheeks in frustration, and at the same
time helplessly groping for her spilled produce as the crowd
swirled about her, no one stopping and no one to care for
her plight.

The salesman knelt on the floor with her, gathered up the apples,
put them back on the table and helped organize her display. As he
did this, he noticed that many of them had become battered and
bruised; these he set aside in another basket.

When he had finished, he pulled out his wallet and said to the
girl, 'Here, please take this $40 for the damage we did. Are you
okay?' She nodded through her tears. He continued on with,
'I hope we didn't spoil your day too badly.'

As the salesman started to walk away, the bewildered blind girl
called out to him, 'Mister......' He paused and turned to look back
into those blind eyes. She continued, 'Are you Jesus?'

He stopped in mid-stride, and he wondered. Then slowly he made
his way to catch the later flight with that question burning and
bouncing about in his soul: 'Are you Jesus?' Do people mistake
you for Jesus? That's our Destiny, is it not? To be so much like
Jesus that people cannot tell the difference as we live and
interact with a world that is blind to His love, life and grace.

If we claim to know Him, we should live, walk and act as He would.

Knowing Him is more than simply quoting Scripture and going to
church. It's actually living the Word as life unfolds day to day.

You are the apple of His eye even though we, too, have been
bruised by a fall. He stopped what He was doing and picked you
and me up on a hill called Calvary and paid in full for our damaged
fruit.

Please share this.... Sometimes we just take things for granted,
when we really need to be sharing what we know...Thanks

GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.

TOO MANY CHRISTIANS ARE NO LONGER FISHERS
OF MEN BUT KEEPERS OF THE AQUARIUM.

Five (5) lessons about the way we treat people

1. First Important Lesson - Cleaning Lady

During my second month of college, our professor gave us a pop quiz.
I was a conscientious student and had breezed through the questions
until I read the last one:

"What is the first name of the woman who cleans the school?"

Surely this was some kind of joke. I had seen the Cleaning woman
several times. She was tall, dark-haired and in her 50's, but how
would I know her name?

I handed in my paper, leaving the last question Blank. Just before
class ended, one student asked if the last question would count
toward our quiz grade.

"Absolutely," said the professor.. "In your careers, You will meet
many people. All are significant.. They deserve your attention
and care, even if all you do is smile and say "hello.." I've never
forgotten that lesson.. I also learned her name was Dorothy.

2. Second Important Lesson - Pickup in the Rain

One night, at 11:30 p.m., an older African American Woman was
standing on the side of an Alabama highway trying to endure a
lashing rain storm. Her car had broken down and she desperately
needed a ride.

Soaking wet, she decided to flag down the next car. A young white
man stopped to help her, generally unheard of in those conflict-filled
1960's. The man took her to safety, helped her get assistance and
put her into a taxicab.

She seemed to be in a big hurry, but wrote down his address and
thanked him. Seven days went by and a knock came on the man's
door. To his surprise, a giant console color TV was delivered to his
home.

A special note was attached. It read:

"Thank you so much for assisting me on the highway the other night.
The rain drenched not only my clothes, but also my spirits. Then you
came along.

Because of you, I was able to make it to my dying husband's'
bedside just before he passed away...God Bless you for helping
me and unselfishly serving others."

Sincerely,
Mrs. Nat King Cole.

3. Third Important Lesson - Always remember those Who serve

In the days when an ice cream sundae cost much less, A 10-year-old
boy entered a hotel coffee shop and sat at a table. A waitress put a
glass of water in front of him.

"How much is an ice cream sundae?" he asked.
"Fifty cents," replied the waitress.

The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and studied the
coins in it. "Well, how much is a plain dish of ice cream?" he
inquired. By now more people were waiting for a table and
the waitress was growing impatient..

"Thirty-five cents," she brusquely replied.

The little boy again counted his coins. "I'll have the plain ice cream," he
said. The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill on the table and
walked away. The boy finished the ice cream, paid the cashier and left..

When the waitress came back, she began to cry as she wiped down the
table. There, placed neatly beside the empty dish, were two nickels and
five pennies..

You see, he couldn't have the sundae, because he had to have enough
left to leave her a tip.

4. Fourth Important Lesson. - The obstacle in Our Path

In ancient times, a King had a boulder placed on a roadway. Then he hid
himself and watched to see if anyone would remove the huge rock. Some
of the King's' wealthiest merchants and courtiers came by and simply
walked around it..

Many loudly blamed the King for not keeping the roads clear, but none did
anything about getting the stone out of the way. Then a peasant came
along carrying a load of vegetables. Upon approaching the boulder, the
peasant laid down his burden and tried to move the stone to the side of
the road.

After much pushing and straining, he finally succeeded. After the peasant
picked up his load of vegetables, he noticed a purse lying in the road where
the boulder had been. The purse contained many gold coins and a note
from the King indicating that the gold was for the person who removed
the boulder from the roadway. The peasant learned what many of us
never understand!

Every obstacle presents an opportunity to improve our condition.

5. Fifth Important Lesson - Giving When it Counts...

Many years ago, when I wo rked as a volunteer at a hospital, I got to
know a little girl named Liz who was suffering from a rare & serious
disease. Her only chance of recovery appeared to be a blood
transfusion from her 5-year old brother, who had miraculously
survived the same disease and had developed the antibodies
needed to combat the illness.

The doctor explained the situation to her little brother, and asked the little
boy if he would be willing to give his blood to his sister. I saw him hesitate
for only a moment before taking a deep breath and saying, "Yes I'll do it if
it will save her."

As the transfusion progressed, he lay in bed next to his sister and smiled,
as we all did, seeing the color returning to her cheek. Then his face grew
pale and his smile faded.

He looked up at the doctor and asked with a trembling voice, "Will I start
to die right away." Being young, the little boy had misunderstood the
doctor; he thought he was going to have to give his sister all of his
blood in order to save her.

Now you have choices..
1. Delete this email, or
2. Forward it other people.

I hope that you will choose No. 2 and remember. Most importantly....
"Work like you don't need the money, love like you've never been hurt,
and dance like you do when nobody's watching."

NOW more than ever - Please....Pass It On...
You never know how or when you'll be paid!

She jumped up as soon as she saw the surgeon come out of the operating room.

She said:

'How is my little boy?
Is he going to be all right?
When can I see him?'

The surgeon said, 'I'm sorry. We did all we could, but your boy didn't make it.' Sally said, 'Why do little children get cancer? Doesn't God care any more? Where were you, God, when my son needed you?'

The surgeon asked, 'Would you like some time alone with your son? One of the nurses will be out in a few minutes, before he's transported to the university.'

Sally asked the nurse to stay with her while she said good bye to son. She ran her fingers lovingly through his thick red curly hair.

'Would you like a lock of his hair?' the nurse asked. Sally nodded yes.

The nurse cut a lock of the boy's hair, put it in a plastic bag and handed it to Sally.

The mother said, 'It was Jimmy's idea to donate his body to the University for Study. He said it might help somebody else. 'I said no at first, but Jimmy said, 'Mom, I won't be using it after I die.

Maybe it will help some other little boy spend one more day with his Mom.' She went on, 'My Jimmy had a heart of gold.

Always thinking of someone else.

Always wanting to help others if he could.'

Sally walked out of Children's Mercy Hospital for the last time, after spending most of the last six months there. She put the bag with Jimmy's belongings on the seat beside her in the car.

The drive home was difficult. It was even harder to enter the empty house. She carried Jimmy's belongings, and the plastic bag with the lock of his hair to her son's room.

She started placing the model cars and other personal things back in his room exactly where he had always kept them

She lay down across his bed and, hugging his pillow, cried herself to sleep.

It was around midnight when Sally awoke. Lying beside her on the bed was a folded letter. The letter said :

'Dear Mom, I know you're going to miss me; but don't think that I will
ever forget you, or stop loving you, just 'cause I'm not around to say

'I Love You.'

I will always love you, Mom, even more with each day.. Someday we will see each other again. Until then, if you want to adopt a little boy so you won't be so lonely, that's okay with me.

He can have my room and old stuff to play with. But, if you decide to get a girl instead, she probably wouldn't like the same things us boys do. You'll have to buy her dolls and stuff girls like, you know.

Don't be sad thinking about me. This really is a neat place.

Grandma and Grandpa met me as soon as I got here and showed
me around some, but it will take a long time to see everything.

The angels are so cool. I love to watch them fly. And, you know what? Jesus doesn't look like any of his pictures. Yet, when I saw Him, I knew it was Him.

Jesus himself took me to see GOD! And guess what, Mom? I got to sit on God's knee and talk to Him, like I was somebody important.

That's when I told Him that I wanted to write you a letter, to tell you

good bye and everything. But I already knew that wasn't allowed.

Well, you know what Mom? God handed me some paper and His own personal pen to write you this letter I think Gabriel is the name of the angel who is going to drop this letter ! off to you.

God said for me to give you the answer to one of the questions you asked Him 'where was He when I needed him?' 'God said He was in the same place with me, as when His son Jesus was on the cross.

He was right there, as He always is with all His children.

Oh, by the way, Mom, no one else can see what I've written except you.

To everyone else this is just a blank piece of paper. Isn't that cool? I have to give God His pen back now He needs it to write some more names in

the Book of Life.

Tonight I get to sit at the table with Jesus for supper. I'm sure the food will be great.

Oh, I almost forgot to tell you. I don't hurt anymore the cancer is all gone.. I'm glad because I couldn't stand that pain anymore and God couldn't stand to see me hurt so much, either. That's when He sent The Angel of Mercy to come get me. The Angel said I was a Special Delivery! How about that?

Signed with Love from God, Jesus & Me.

( Let's see Satan stop this one. ) Take 60 seconds and repost this, within the hour, you will have caused a multitude of believers to pray to God for each other.

Then sit back and feel the Holy Spirit work in your life for doing what you know God loves 'When you're down to nothing, God is up to something.'

Please tell ten friends to tell ten today! The Breast Cancer site is
having trouble getting enough people to click on their site daily to
meet their quota of donating at least one free mammogram a day
to an underprivileged woman. It takes less than a minute to go to
their site and click on 'donating a mammogram' for free (pink window
in the middle).

This doesn't cost you a thing. Their corporate sponsors/advertisers
use the number of daily visits to donate mammogram in exchange for
advertising.

Here's the web site! Pass it along to people you know.
