Traffic Exchange Tips

Do you remember the office banner “I Have to Get Organizized”? The last word had the “zized” pointing downward. Maybe it was an ’80s thing. Anyway, the joke was in the misspelling of organized, but it projected the message: This Person Will Never BE Organized at all. Stupid, now that I look back on it. LOL But it made a good point.

To succeed at business, you have to be organized and that’s why I’ve been over this so many times in the past. Without organization, you’ll spend hours looking for one piece of paper in that mountain on top of your desk. Or, you’ll miss a sale because you can’t find the client’s phone number or email address. How dumb is that?

Organization is especially important when surfing traffic exchanges because there are just so many. And if you’re like the rest of us, you probably belong to more than you can count. I’ve explained how to keep your affiliate URLs in order, but now, let’s talk about keeping your surfing in order.

I have several ways.

First is the JoeShmo200 a program that’s more than a downline builder, which it is and a pretty good one. In JoeShmo’s surf center, you’ll find a place where you can surf every exchange you belong to in alphabetical order. All you have to remember is where you left off yesterday.

Another program that has a surf organizer is TrafficHoopla, which also puts out the Top Ten lists for Traffic Exchanges and Safelists each week. Traffic Hoopla is also a downline builder, and if you set your start page to the URL provided in the “HMPage Hub” section, you can surf your exchanges each time you open your browser.

And there is TrafficTornado, yet another downline builder with “Traffic Pad.” This page lists your programs. Bookmark it and surf from there to be sure to catch all your sites.

I know there are other programs that can help you to organize your surfing. Use them! Otherwise, you may be dropping out of programs that you enjoy. Wouldn’t you hate that?

How many traffic exchanges do you belong to? 10, 20, 50? I think I stopped joining right around the 50 mark. Whoa. Joining that many exchanges was certainly a BIG mistake. You can only surf so many in one day, right? And of those, how many are worth surfing?

Think about it, you reach most surfers when you surf strong exchanges, like TS25, ILoveHits, StartXchange, etc. Surfing the smaller exchanges may mean that there are folks seeing your ads, but how many? But that’s not the issue today. In fact, it’s a whole ‘nother issue that I’ll write about another time.
What I’d like to discuss today are ways to make traffic exchange life easier for you.

First, you have a gazillion passwords, I’ll bet. Well, I do, too. I used to use Gator for saving all of them, until they went adware and spyware crazy. When I realized what was going on (a few years ago), I switched to Roboform. What a program! You can get it free and it will hold up to 50 of your passwords. It’s completely secure, there are no worries about adware or spyware, and it’s encrytped for security.

You’ll have to spring for the pro edition, if you have more than 50 passwords, so I did that right away, of course. I was able to import my passcards from Gator, too. I can’t tell you how much I love this program! You really should check it out.

OK, that takes care of the passwords, but hmm… what about all those affiliate links? We talked about how to organize them (see June 14th post), and we’ve talked about tracking. But I’ve just found a new program that really sings! It’s called GoTryThis, and it’s awesome. I just bought it yesterday and am still going through the program. But it makes links MUCH easier than all those

For instance, I just used it for the link to Roboform above. It’s actually one of those long babies, but I can use http://ovweb.net/Roboform, which is pretty easy for me to remember because I’m using my home domain as the URL’s root.

Not only that. GoTryThis tracks links for you, compares them, gets your earnings from affiliate programs, allows you to split test, and a whole lot more. It’s awesome! The program is free, if you want to use it for just one link. Bah! Who has one link?

Upgrade!

You can use it for unlimited links, if you pay $19.95 and have it installed on your server for $9.99. Wow! Great deal, right? But you can upgrade even further and become a “White Hat” for a bigger chunk of change (I don’t know why they don’t put that on the member’s page because I’m seriously considering going full bore, but they don’t.) OK, so we’ve covered passwords, link tracking, campaigns, split testing, and lots more with only 2 programs. Whoa. Those two are very powerful.

But you still need a quality tabbed browser to surf with, right? Well, I was a Firefox hater for a very long time. I just couldn’t get it to do the things that my Maxthon browser did. Blech!

So, I avoided it.

But guess what? I started getting lots of spyware and adware and so, I decided it was time to give Firefox another chance because my friends kept telling me how great it was.

So, I’m typing to you from Firefox right now.

Not only can I control the tabs better with the plug-in “Tab-Mix Plus,” but I sped the browser up a bit with the Fasterfox extension, too. I have the Alexa toolbar at the bottom, giving me loads of incredible info about any site I hit, and Google even offers “Open Notebook,” which allows me to copy and paste from any web site I want and saves the information for me!

Oh… and I can get my weather. All day, every day. (Which is kind of silly, I know. I live in Florida. LOL) At least I always know when it’s going to rain. (Which is every day this time of year.) OK, so I’d like that better if I were in the Midwest, I guess, but it’s still cool!
